Entomological field visit by ICMR – National Institute for Research in Tribal Health (NIRTH)
As part of the operational plan, a second round of entomological investigation was carried out from 21st to 25th February, 2018 by ICMR-NIRTH under the supervision of Dr. A K Mishra – Scientist E. The team performed indoor resting collections in 9 villages of different category and observed that the vector density is higher in IRS villages which was comparatively lower in October visit, may be due to 2nd round IRS was just over at that time. However, as per discussion with few villagers during survey, the team felt that IEC is very much needed among the villagers, at least for the use of LLINs. Most of the villagers are presently not using nets as observed by NIRTH team may be due to winter, however, in October visit, LLIN usage by the villagers was comparatively good. The team was accompanied by District Officer – MEDP.
